As a publicly funded institution, the University of California is accountable to the people of California for how well it performs.
The 2026 UC Accountability Report provides the nineteenth annual comprehensive assessment of the University's progress in meeting key teaching, research and public service goals across its ten campuses. The data will inform the University's strategic planning, budgeting and performance management, as well as help the governing Board of Regents identify the most important policy issues facing UC.
The 2026 report includes 159 individual indicators across thirteen chapters, including a new chapter focused on UC's Impact. More than half of the indicators (81) link directly to UC Information Center dashboards for expanded insights and data interactivity. Additionly, thirteen of the indicators link to University reports or webpages and eighteen indicators include 39 different maps to provide geographical context to the University's wide reach across California.
The report assesses progress in areas like undergraduate outcomes, financial aid, diversity, research and university finances.
